Has anyone been to Snowbasin lately?

I haven't been in 3 weeks but I was hoping to go back this weekend.

I think you'd be better off at Alta/Bird.  16" vs 3" in 48hrs.

Coverage is still really good at Snowbasin.  LCC got hit with the super light lake effect snow.  Super cold today with a strong sub zero east wind chill.  Not sure how much of that snow won't get blown right back into the lake.

High pressure & warmer temperatures are supposed to return for the next few days.

Is the snow soft or is it still hard pack/crust from the freeze thaw of last week?  Will be heading out to Utah in a week and trying to get an idea of what is skiing good.

I actually stayed home today, second day off skis since Thanksgiving.  Snow was great yesterday!  There is a rain crust under it all from a couple of weeks ago & it was a little scratchy on sun facing slopes where it got warm on Friday.  It will be interesting to see what the east wind from today did.  I will try to remember to give an update tomorrow eve.

It has been an odd season so far, with fluctuating periods of cold & warm temps.

I skied Snowbird today for the first time. Lots of knee deep turns, cold but sunny. I plan on skiing Snowbird again tomorrow and then I will try Snow Basin later in the week. I'm staying in a pop-up truck camper in the Sandy Walmart. It is warm enough but I'm going thru lots of propane. Anone know where I can get a propane tank refilled?

I'd go with Powder this week. Reported 6 inches yesterday to Snowbasin's 1. Last time I rode Powder (3 weeks ago), it got six inches over a few days and I was riding near-knee-deep in the trees the whole week. Why ski groomers all day when you can ski powder?
