Props to Starthaus and Philpug

Ok, so I've just got to sing some praises here...

A couple of months ago I met Philpug at ESA in Stowe.  In the course of conversation we began talking about my current skis and level of skiing.  Phil made some suggestions and sort of just left it at that.  I don't think I really realized at the time how deep his knowledge of the ski landscape was!

Upon my return, I had some more questions, so we picked up the conversation again here on Epic.  I honestly find the vast array of choices these days overwhelming and can quite easily get bogged down in analysis paralysis, so having someone that I trust to narrow the playing field down is really valuable.  Phil was great at understanding my level of skiing and what I needed, and matching that with the right ski choices, along with the respective pros and cons of each (in fact, I'm pretty sure he knew what I needed better than I did myself).  He also had a tremendous amount of patience in answering my myriad of questions/concerns.

When I was finally ready to pull the trigger, Starthaus offered me a great deal on some Line Prophet 100's, which were delivered really quickly and packaged nicely.  I LOVE these skis!!!  They were exactly what I was looking for, though I myself would have never been willing to go that wide if it hadn't been for Phil's advice.

All-in-all it was just a very positive experience.  I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for good honest service and great advice, at very competitive prices.  I'll definitely be looking to them again for my future gear needs.

That's it for the love fest.  Thanks Phil, thanks Starthaus!!!  icon14.gif

^^^^Clearly Phil pretending to be a satisfied customer. Starthaus is actually a wholly owned online subsidiary of Amer. The picture of their "ski shop" is a Photoshop job of a paint store in western Pennsylvania. When you dial the Truckee number, you're redirected to a bank of elderly shut-ins in Finland, who pretend to understand you. Sadly, I know. I ordered some Kastles from "Phil," or whoever he is, thinking I was getting expert service, and ended up with some well used Powder Plus demos, with "Kastle" written in permanent marker on the shovel. (And oddly, a warranty for a 1999 Subaru Forester.) It's time we exposed this madness! nonono2.gif

+1 on the props! I don't care if Starthaus is being operated from yurt in the Gobi desert of Mongolia by the descendants of Gingis Khan.

My wife just got her new Dynastar Idyll nicely boxed in 3 days, loves them from the moment she clicked in them.

Many thanks,

Vlad

Does "Peggy" answer the phone? (If you haven't seen the commercials...)

Glad to hear you've had great service from Start Haus and Phil.

On that note, we are visiting Phil or at least the shop next Monday for boots. He gave me quite a laugh about my husband's ancient Raichle Flexons. Phil, help! He's still pining over them and wanting to use them! Damn good thing they are missing a screw. I think we'll bring them along so we can have some sort of burial or memorial ceremony for them. So help me God if the new boots give him any issues, I'll never hear the end of it! ;)

Classic!

Congrats on the award! Looking forward to being there next Monday, even if our butts are numb from 8 hours in the car, and our daughter is the tazmanian devil after being strapped into her car seat for that long.
