I'm about your size, maybe 160 and a almost 6 foot, but darn close. The Stix are a good balanced ski. They aren't nearly as demanding as a couple of others in the catagory (volkl G4 and atomic R-ex) and float better at moderate speeds due the good turn up in the tip. They don't hold on ice quite as well as those 2 either, but hold better than the other end of the spectrum (the k2 ak launcher or dynastar nobis). That is what I mean by balanced, they will help you ski soft snow and be a good teacher, but you won't grow out of them or be in as much trouble if you end up on bullet proof ice.
I'd say the size is just right for what i know about you. At speeds and fast straight runs through cliff bands etc.. they are a bit short, but they are nice and manuverable at moderate speeds and in tight trees, and hold their own when you open it up a bit.
Sounds like I'm trying to sell them, but I really believe they are a great ski and fit your parameters well. They are also a great price, since the binding alone was more than $350 new. The binding is also nice because with the piston on it skis stiffer and more lively, but with it off it is more neutral. They have about a half season on them on soft snow and have one minor petex repair (by a pro). They have a brand new snowell turne (the best machine in the business, retail $50)
Anyway, let me know if you have any other questions.
