Hi, I'm 174cm, 145lb and am want skis to carve and some mild terrain park/halfpipe.
What are the shortest and longest skis you would recommend and what would they be best for?
I won't give you any advice for park and pipe, but if you tell me how fast you ski (either hard numbers or relative to other skiers on hill), I can tell you what would work best for general skiing. Even though some short modern skis are perfectly stable vibrationally speaking at high speeds, longer is still better for faster skiing. Besides length, you have to think about stiffness and sidecut, and how well developed you short turn carved turn is at the moment.
right now I have 177cm salomon 1080s the very first ones, and when I ski i usually carve hard which means faster than everyone on the hill
I can do short turn carving very well but I never use it (i just don't like using it) so you can discount short turn carving for the moment
For park and pipe, is it easier doing jumps and rails on shorter skis?
