I was talking with the Fischer rep for a while yesterday. He told me 20 shops in the country will carry it. He also told me that only 2,000 boots were made for N. America. That's an average of 100 pairs per shop. Factor in sizes and the number of boots in your size will get lower than that. If you want them, get them early, because they will be gone quickly! I'm guessing that most of the boots at JHS will sell out before the season starts and the rest will be gone by Christmas. You have been warned!
Anticipating that very thing, I called Jans Mountain Outfitters yesterday and talked with their buyer. Since I may not be able to make it out to Park City until February, I wanted to see if they would let me prepay for my pair before coming out so that I would be assured of having it when I get there. He was very nice and said he'd be glad to do that for me. My only issue is that I am currently skiing an Atomic Hawx 27.5 and it is too high volume for my foot. Shell fitting my current boot, I've got at least 2 fingers behind my ankle, maybe 3. So I've been thinking I might need to move down to a 26 shell. He suggested I buy the 26.5 and then hope a 27 shell is still in stock if I need to swap (he said they are stocking more in the 27 shell so my chances are better going that way).
Based on my 2 to 3 finger fit in my current 27.5 boot and the fact I wear a street shoe size 10.5, anyone have a quick guess on whether the 26 or 27 shell size in the VAC 110 would be right for me? (I realize the answer is a shot in the dark at best, but I figure the experts here will have a much more informed guess than my own.)
