i'm looking at getting my wife her 1st skis(previous rentals)

shes a solid intermediate -carving down mostly blues and reds at speed/prob not too interested in off piste but it would be nice to have a ski that could cope with this is she decides to expand her skills

any suggestions ?

looking and medium to low price range

also how easy is  it to set up your own skis

some websites will preset them for you but we're not sure what boot length she's got as she's left them at our apartment in France

thanks

Welcome to EpicSki!

Without sounding too abrasive, make sure she has good, properly fitted boots first.
Then it will be easier for us to give good ideas if you can offer your lovely wife's stats, height and weight, so we don't suggest skis that are too soft or too burly for her.

But to start, you may want to think about the Blizzard Viva 7.6, Rossi Attraxion 8, Dynastar idyll, K2 Free Luv........
These are all good advanced skis that have forgiving properties that can help her grow in her skiing.  but seriously, if she can demo, that is always best.  She'll know what she likes.

Can I say, as strongly as possible, Please do not set her skis yourself. They need to be properly tested with her boots to be sure they'll release properly. If you set them yourself you risk her being seriously injured. Get them done by a professional.

wifes stats; 5'6'' 115pounds

she already has some decnt boots

would you agree with 'persee' and get the skis fitted professionally - i guess most ski shops would do this

With the stats you gave me, I'd still suggest the skis that I put on the short list above and YES I would also suggest that you have the shop set the bindings to her skis.  Well worth the investment.
