Binding Mounting Position

Thread Starter

Just picked up my new skis after having my bindings mounted on them...

Was in a rush and did not notice until tonight...It appears to me that the bindings are mounted way back on the tails...

Admittedly, I am no expert and these skis are a departure from what I am used to skiing on...But the mount position does look strange to me.

Overall ski length is 150 cm

Front binding adjusting screw is 2 feet from tip

Rear binding adjustment screw is 1 fot frm the back tip

As I say...These skis are a departure from what I am used to skiing on and are the first "wide" skiis that I have owned.  Seems odd to me that the binding is not mounted more int eh center of the ski...

Any thoughts?

Welcome to Epic...there are some threads that discuss mounting position and what appears to be the somewhat randomness of the sidewall marks.  What ski do you have?  Did the shop mount to the sidewall mark?  At this point you mine as well ski them and see how you like them...

Not sure if the are mounted in the right position or not...Here is a photo of what I think you are reffering to re sidewall...

That is indeed what he is referring to.

Do you see all those marks along the edge there?
They are how the person mounting bindings determines where to mount them.

Due to the glare from the flash (I presume) I can't quite read what is written there, but you should be able to.
I would guess that at one end (probably the tail end) there will be a "0" written above the mark or maybe the word "traditional" or something like that.
That is the manufacturers recommended mounting point and the other marks show you how far you move it forward as you do it.
Judging by the photo they appear to be mounted in the recommended spot since the center of the binding looks to be in line with the tail end mark.

I guess its just super odd to me that

1) they are mounted this far back on the tail of the ski and

2) The K2 Logo is on the tail of the ski as well...

I wouldn't worry about the logo.

And honestly, I'm not sure that is further back than normal.

It could just be the way the ski is designed anyway.

Did you actually have a look at the marks?

As I said, I can't read them, was just explaining them to you.

Check that the recommended mount line is actually in the middle of the bindings.
