Goggle lens help needed

Hi folks,

yesterday on the mountain, I started to develop a problem with terrain definition later in the day as small moguls from excessive traffic developed. I wear contacts, and my eyesight is poor to begin with.  It was overcast skies, and I was wondering what type of goggle or goggle lens color would help me with overcast definition of the moguls to better help me prepare ? I am a slower intermediate level skier... Thanks !

I use Smith Sensor Lenses for the overcast conditions you described as they let about 70/75% of the available light through and they give me about the best definition I have found from a lens in those conditions.

Just got the Sensor lens with my Smith I/O and they do work well.   But in case you are already invested in some good goggles that offer replacement lenses, look for lenses that are yellow, the more bright and yellow the better, think driving/shooting glasses, all are designed to increase both contrast and depth perception and block out blue light that kinda smudges everything.

Richie, I only like yellow lenses when it is snowing out as just a little sun and they are too bright for my eyes. My Smith phenoms have interchangeable lenses and I use the Sensor lens on low light days or where the mountain is in the shade in the afternoon.

I have raced motocross for the past 22 years, and I have an optional yellow lens as well. Yellow is good for overcast, or "dusk" type low light conditions, never tried them in the snow, but. you don't want a yellow goggle on if the bright sun breaks out ! Also my eyes are extremly sensitive to excessive sunlight as well. I will look into the Sensor lens ! Thank you for the tips !
