Yabuli is one of better run ski resorts in China. The ski resort is about 3 hours drive from the nearest airport. The resort used to be owned and run by a Hong Kong businessman in the gaming industry through a Canadian listed company. Then couple of years ago, it was sold to a Chinese company and the management of the resort contracted out to Club Med.
The resort could be a lot larger, but due to financial constraints, only about a third of what was planned got built.
The hotel room is decent size and comfortable, as one would expect from Club Med. Ski rental is not under Club Med's operation so the service is poor. There are only limited runs: A1, A2, A5 and B5, with only one gondola earlier this year. The chairlift in the B area has been out of operation for the whole season due to some problem between Club Med and the servicing company. So a shuttle bus was used to link the two areas, running at half hour interval. The runs are hardly exciting.

The ski lessons are included in the package. Food in the "Apple Green" buffet restaurant is OK but the food in the Italian and Chinese restaurants are not desirable.
Ah, and I thought VR had their eye on it: it's flat. It catered for Russians and, iirc, and had 'fancy' dachas - exotic houses by crumbling communist standards,, And if you skied the wrong way you ended up in N Korea iirc.
