White Pass
Description:

White Pass boasts the highest base area elevation on the Cascade crest at 4,500 ft. Located in Washington's Cascade Mountains, White Pass was named one of the 10 "Best in the West" ski areas by Outside Magazine. They strike a perfect balance between pulse quickening steeps, wide open cruisers, and gentle learning areas, with 20% of the terrain geared toward experts, 60% toward intermediates, and 20% toward beginners.

Pros: intermediate terrain, short lines

Cons: little advanced terrain, no apre' ski options

White Pass is a dream for beginners and intermediates.  It's an awesome place to learn to ski powder, and a great place to ski with kids.  Most of the slopes are gentle grades and wide open.  There is lots of snow, on average, and relatively few skiers/riders, so the goods are easy to find.  There are some condos for rent at the base, but not a lot of options for lodging, dining, and entertainment, which is typical in WA.

Pros: great snow, great demo shop, inexpensive

Cons: Old and moldy. Sort of a Yakima good old boy's club

Had 14 inch new first day 16 on the second. Wonderful intermediate powder bowls in the newly opened areas. Great for teaching new pow skiers. DO NOT STAY IN THE LODGE AT THE BASE AREA!!!! i REPEAT. DO NOT STAY AT THE BASE AREA LODGE. You will be sorry. I and my guest were treated very rude. The area is very nice with the additional runs. We stayed in Yakima and drove to the area each day.

Pros: Steeps, Powder, Family friendly, trees, cruisers

Cons: short steeps

Great for learning to ski or hitting the steeps or even just relaxing on the cruisers.

Pros: Friendly, no lines, expending to double in 2011

Cons: Remote, no night life!

Great skiing, great terrain, very friendly people and no lines. White pass will double its size in 2011 season. It is kind of far from everywhere, 50m from Yakima, about the same from the coast.
