Pros: Huge piste area, some variety, good snow

Cons: Crowded late season, Not very pretty, No trees

Val Thorens has some of the best European piste skiing, period. Piste bashers will love the varied and interesting selection of intermediate/ advanced groomed runs. Near VT itself the skiing isn't amazing but it's well connected to the nearby areas on your 3 Valleys pass. The only real downside is the lack of tree skiing, and if the weather is bad on a mid-winter trip the exposed slopes quickly get blown clean of powder. Usually conditions are fine, but they can change rapidly, with VT getting the worst wind in the Valleys (being at the top, and most exposed). Pros: High. good snow, lots of lifts, great skiing

Cons: Busy, furthest ski resort from the begginning of the valley

Visited Val Thorens a while back in the second week of the Easter Holidays, in a nutshell the skiing was definitely spring conditions.   The village itself often draws much criticism from visitors, sure its not the most aesthetically pleasing site, but it serves its purpose. It lets you sleep, wake up, put on your boots, walk out the door, put on your skis and ski onto one of Europe's most modern lift systems. The resort itself was were the Funitel gondola lift was invented, giving rise to Val Thorens main base lift the "peclet". and a further three Funitels in the resort.
