Tecnica Phoenix 90 Ultrafit

Pros: Wonderful fit for those who have wider feet. Great 102 last, extremely supportive with the ability to adjust the flex on the fly from 90-100 flex.

Cons: None

This was my first experiencing buying a Tecnica Ski Boot. I'm one of those individuals who have wider than normal feet (size 10.5; mondo 28.5). I've been suffering with years of foot fatigue and cramping as most boots are either too narrow or too wide. I went for a custom boot fitting through North Shore Ski and Board in North Vancouver, BC. They did a super job fitting me - recommended the Phoenix 80's. I ended up buying the 90's for the stuffer flex. I've experienced no foot fatigue. The boot comes with a lot of extra bells and whistles which you will not find in a sub $500 boot (quality buckles; flex adjustment which can be made on the fly without tools; rear spoiler to help support those who have large calve muscles).

I strongly recommend trying these babies... they are so comfortable that I can sit or stand in them all day without any pain!

Pros: Tons of room above the arch, tight fit, no slip

Cons: Narrow, even by my standards.

After spending the last 13 years of skiing wearing boots that left my feet numb for days after, I knew that something had to change.  The problem was always having the circulation cut off when the top of my foot got squished into the top of the boot.  The Tecnica Phoenix line alleviates this by increasing the overall volume of the mid-foot area.  For the first time ever, I was able to complete a full ski day without experiencing any significant discomfort, and my feet never went numb.  Width-wise, it's a very narrow boot, there was barely any room to spare.

Performance: Not only was my first day with these the most comfortable in a long time, it was also the best performing.  The boot did not slip, and it was easy to initiate turns, think of anything you wanted to do and the boot transferred it to the ski.  Black runs were easy, and the bumps were not a struggle for once.

Still has that new-boot smell, so no durability rating.
