Pros: On hill ambiance, close to philly

Cons: Snow quality, lodge, lifts, pitch

Spring mountain is a small ski hill relatively close to some suburbs of Philadelphia.  Based on the layout, it is tough to really get many good turns in or pick up much speed.  However, it definitely has the "rural" ambiance and can be a nice retreat from suburban living for a few hours.

The ski area has two sections feeding to different base areas, but connected by trails.  There are some tacky touches, such as trashcans under the lift with old basketball hoops above them to try to drop beercans through.  The lodge is very old, and doesn't have a great snackbar.  The ski area relies heavily on man-made snow, and often has bare-patches.

The upside is that it is much closer than the closest "Pocono" mountain, and often this is reason enough to ski at Spring Mountain (especially during the week).

Pros: Very Close to Philly

Cons: Short Vertical, Poor Conditions

This is the closest ski hill to my place.  It's good enough to bang out a few turns and then go home after 2 hrs.  That's about it.
