Snow Ridge
Description:

Snow Ridge lies in the heart of the snow belt east of Lake Ontario, averaging almost 20 feet of snow annually and boasting a season stretching from Thanksgiving to April. The "lake effect," which is a phenomenon caused by prevailing westerly winds crossing the warm waters of Lake Ontario (it never freezes over) and then the colder land of the Tug Hill Plateau, virtually ensures a large quantity of snow. Snow Ridge does have 100 percent snowmaking compliments of Lake Ontario.

Pros: Lots of Snow and No Crowds

Cons: Slow Lifts

Snow Ridge sure lives up to it's name, they get the most snow of all the ski areas in Central New York. If you are looking for great snow, no crowds, parking right next to the lodge and some challenging terrain (especially if you know where to look) then this is the perfect place for your next day trip. There are 2 main lifts and 1 T-Bar you will use to get to the best terrain. There are only a few trails off the T-Bar but they are challenging and usually left natural which keeps the beginners away from them. They also have an affordable ski school that does a great job with adult beginners.

There are some cons like ,if you are looking for fancy hotels and restaurants Snow Ridge is not your choice in New York. The lifts are also older and slow, but that's not a big deal when there is only 500 vertical feet to cover. The only time I've ever had to wait in a lift line was when there was a regional high school race going on, but they did offer discounted lift tickets that day.
