Pros: some small steeps, close to home, mostly good conditions

Cons: Icy at night,

This is my home mountain, great morning groomed conditions. lifts are not super fast, but short lines even on weekends. They are replacing some of the older lifts for next year. offers a surprising mix of terrain for such a small mountain. My son snowboards and raves about the park crews ability to add cool features in the park areas. The new restaurant/bar with live music has improved night life. Very nice for what it is. Offers a good day on the snow and is close to home. Pays to buy the advantage card or season pass if you are a regular.

Pros: Close to Home

Cons: It's not Little Cottonwood Canyon :)

For South Central PA skiing  - Ski Roundtop does a pretty darn good job.  I grew up locally and have been using Ski Roundtop as my training grounds since I was 10.  They have really done a great job of improving the snow making capacity over the years.  The mountain has a nice variation of beginner to advanced terrain, and the organization of the mountian allows for some segregation of skiier levels which is important on the smaller mountains here in PA.  The mountain has also recently upgraded many of the base area amenities ( Thank you for the Fireside Pub!) which allows for a nice day trip with the family.  I asked my wife to marry me at Ski Roundtop so she would always have a special place in her heart for skiing and I am now teaching my 3 yr old daughter to ski there.  Keep up the good work Roundtop Management!

Pros: Good ski school, Proximity to DC/Baltimore

Cons: Reckless & clueless skiers, Short Vertical Drop

A basic hill that is good for learning and working on your skiing technique.  For the resorts closest to DC/Baltimore, it is better than Liberty due to less crowds.  The Vertical Drop is short but the lifts will get you back up on the hill quickly.

There are better resorts to go to under 3 hours away such asTimberline Resort ($20 Lift tickets with a Student ID, 150-200in of annual snow, has great tree skiing!) and Canaan Valley Resort (180in of annual snow and a great terrain park) in West Virginia or Blue Knob (100in of annual snow, most advanced terrain in the Mid-Atlantic, & should be skied after a big storm) in Pennsylvania!
