Pros: Light, maneuverable, twin-tipped, sexy
Cons: A little pricey
My first pair of skis and the first all-mountain skis I ever rode. I demoed them at Kirkwood early in 07. They were the first of three pairs of skis I took out that weekend, all similar all-mountain models. They were the best by far. The biggest factor for me was weight. For the first time I could get in the air whenever I wanted to. Made popping off the little bumps I used to call jumps as a kid fun again.
The next fall I bought the same model I demoed and I've been riding them ever since. Great for shredding the gnar pow or carving on moguls. Not ideal for groomers--they float around a bit when you point them straight downhill--but who cares?
The 179s have the hot girl artwork (I call her Alyssa (I know, I'm a child)) and the 185s have the boxes. Not sure what this year's model looks like. General note though: think about who you're going to be skiing with before buying planks with naked women on them--it's led to some awkward moments. I still love her though.
