Pros: Easy on/off, Comfortable, Progressive flex is great, great build quality on the shell
Cons: may crush your instep. Due to the hard boot board impacts from larger cliffs/drops can be harsher then some boots
I bought these boots threw my Pro deal (as a CSIA ski instructor) this year, and I have to say so far I am very impressed. I have over 30 full days in the boots already and they are the most comfortable performance boot i've ever had. the progressive flex really mellows out what I find can be a really jarring feel from flexing stiff boots (although they say not to use the old flex index, these build up to 125 flex). As a note, I have fully custom insoles in these boots.
I've seen a lot of really harsh comments from this site about this line of boots. and so far I disagree with almost all of them. the only downside, is if your instep is on the bigger side, the 3 buckle design can crush it a bit. I personally find the buckle setup is great. the 45 degree buckle does one of the best jobs of holding the heel in place without having to have it bone curshingly tight. and the toe buckle on these actually does something as its right behind the ball of your foot.
Another thing that can be off putting, especially for ex-ski racers, is alot of people comment that the boot isn't fit properly since there is much more room for the toes then normal boots. this isn't actually a problem. your toes don't need to be slammed into the front of the boot! the farthest point of control/power transmission in your foot is the ball of them. so this boot uses that and allows you a bit more breathing room while still holding the rest of your foot (and the important parts) well. Don't just downsize to get that toe crushing pain in your feet, contrary to a lot of old schoolers, your feet don't have to be killed to ski well. don't believe me? come up north to canada and i'll show you :P
So no, unlike nordica advertised this boot doesn't revolutionize ski boots. however it is a solid high performance ski boot that I don't think should be over looked because of some bad advertising. the build quality seems excellent. my only concern, if any of you owned the speedmachine 120/130, they're liners packed out exceptionally quickly, and I'm yet to see if they fixed that in these, but only time will tell. Other wise, I have zero complaints
