Mountainsmith Boot Cube

Pros: Extra space around boots for luggage, utility pockets, durability

Cons: Some discomfort with shoulder strap

Mountiansmith is not necessarily known for their ski products, but the versatility of their boot bag is unmatched. I headed up to Squaw this past weekend to put the Cube to the test. The bag not only fit my ski boots, but also my gloves, goggles, jacket, pants, long underwear, socks, and snacks for the hill. The 150d RipStop Poly material is rock solid and weather resistant (ie. doesn't soak up water when sitting in the snow). My two favorite features are the mesh panels for ventilation in the main compartment and grommeted drain holes in the bottom - because as we all know, nothing is worse than damp ski gear! My only criticism, is that when packed to the gills, the Cube is a little uncomfortable to lug over your shoulder, especially with a pair of skis in the other hand. However, it's a small price to pay considering that the alternative would be making multiple trips from the car to the mountain.

While I plan to use the Cube mostly for skiing, I can definitely picture myself using it for camping and other outdoor adventures next spring and summer. All in all, a great product from a great brand.
