Mont Saint Sauveur
Description:

The Quebec ski industry was born in Saint Sauveur des Monts, a small village in the Laurentians which rapidly became the cradle of skiing. In 1934, an American industrialist, Fred Pabst, installed the first permanent ski lift on Hill 70, soon to be the most famous hill in Eastern North America. Eleven years later, a group of businessmen acting on their enthusiasm for the sport joined Mr. Victor Nymark to found UPHILL LTD., a company which was to play a major role in the development of the site. In 1948, the first T-bar in North America, imported from Austria, was installed on Hill 71. Mont Saint Sauveur has the longest ski season anywhere in Quebec.

Pros: groomed several times a day, night ski, close to montreal, nice little village

Cons: overpriced, small mountain, overcrowded

i think mont saint-sauveur is a mountain ideal for beginners :) the slopes are short and there are many easy trails. even though it is often crowded and over priced, it is very close to montreal. you can get great rental+school+lift ticket packages. slopes are often groomed. awesome nightlife in the village! many bars and restaurants. there is also a great outlet mall. you can buy day tickets, 2-hour tickets, 4-hour tickets, and tickets for night skiing are at a reduced price from 3:30pm. begginners usually don't last for the whole day and i think buying a ticket for 2 or 4 hours is ideal for an initiation! when you buy tickets for st-sauveur, you have access to slopes at both st-sauveur and mont avila. you can also only buy a ticket for mont avila, which is cheaper, but you have access to fewer slopes. very well lit at night!! it looks beautiful :)
