Pros: Thick material, good zippers, useful design
Cons: Not available on their web site
I know it's kind of odd to be reviewing a duffel bag from a company that specializes in wool clothing. The thing is, I don't wear wool, but these duffels looked pretty good. And who can't use another duffel bag? Since I got a deal through Promotive, I feel obliged to write a review.
The first impression is one of heft. This isn't thin nylon. It feels almost like a lower grade of cordura. The bottom is even thicker. The zippers are substantial as is the webbing. The fabric is reinforced where the webbing is sewn to it. Overall, very similar materials to my Traspack XT1.
I like the U-shaped zipper path. It's easier for getting stuff in and out neatly. I appreciate the Velcro wrap that holds the handles together. I hardly ever use shoulder straps, but its nice to be included. I have no idea what I'll use the two end compartments for; they're too small for boots and not waterproof enough for wet stuff. Probably good for last minute items.
When I unpacked the duffel, my 7 year old remarked how big it is. I challenged her to fit inside it, which she did. I can now confirm that this duffel makes a passable child carrier in a pinch. It's plenty strong if not very comfortable for the cargo.
I'm giving an initial score of 3.5 stars. Until it sees a season of use I won't know for sure.
