Pros: fast lifts, great variety of terrain
Cons: sever bottleneck at mid mountain lodge, and down at the bottom lifts.
Marmot Basin is rarely ever crowded. Being so far from any major city (3 and a half hours), it only really gets crowded on the christmas holidays and spring break. On busy days, hell even a normal day, the base of the canadian rockies express chair and the eagle express gets pretty crowded because they are the two main ways to get up the mountain, and they are right beside each other. They are fast lifts though, and the canadian express goes all the way to the top of paradise so, pretty much all the way up the mountain. The other major bottleneck, even worse than the bottom, is the mid mountain lodge. if its at all busy, stay away from here, or risk getting hit by some noob cruising down the chalet slope, or down from caribou ridge. some of the best expert terrain is in eagle east, which you have to take the slow eagle ridge quad to get to. Big cliffs, cornices and steep lines in here. deffinitly not for most skiiers. if you hike from the top of eagle ridge quad, there is some siick lines on cornice peak that dont get skiied much. (partly due to the fact that it doesnt even look skiable from below.) hardest skiing on the mountain. (except for maybe tres hombres which is out of bounds.) go up the knob chair (haha), and ski some of the terrain near charlies bowl or hike the peak. about a 45 minute hike, it can lead to some sweet powder turns if it recently snowed. thats a problem though as marmot doesnt get much snow. 400 cm annually. if this place got about 200 more cm each year, it would be my favorite mountain easily. id recommend it.
