Pros: Accesibility and variety
Loon is a nice mountain in NH. Easy day trip from Boston. Most of the drive is on I93 except the last two miles through Lincoln. Because of this they get a lot of traffic from Boston. So be ready for long lift lines. It is a combination of couple peaks. I like South Peak better. Not as crowded as the others and had nice blue and black runs. But you need to take the Tote road lift to get in and get out of South Peak. North peak is similar to South peak but smaller vertical. They definitely need a bigger gondola cabin for the main mountain. Fours gondola is extremely slow and gets crazy long lines. Why not replace that with 8s? Prefer Seven Brothers+East Basin or North Peak quad to access the summit.
Now the negative side. It is expensive. They do offer frequent skier cards but 83$/day is little too much Loon's size. Apart from the lifts, food and drinks are not cheap either. I think they set their prices based on their accessibility. People like driving on highways and Loon is easy to access. So charge more! So I am dropping a star for the cost of skiing at Loon.
Edit 3/9/2015: Learned about their 29$ Sunday afternoon deals two weeks ago. Not valid on Sunday during the season (for example, MLK/Presiden'ts weekeend) but otherwise it is an excellent deal. They don't sell these tickets until 12pm but get there little early, change your clothes, eat your lunch, and ski non-stop from noon to until they close.
