Pros: Trigger S system, swing weight, carbon feel
Cons: Expensive on sale, really expensive when not on sale. Slight worry about having them stolen. For the price they should include powder baskets.
This was an upgrade from an older Aluminum Leki pole with the older trigger system which was a bomber pole and I liked the trigger system. I wanted to upgrade because I wanted to move from a 50" to a 48" pole (very happy with that choice) and really like the feel of carbon - springy and doesn't send the cold straight through you if you are holding the shaft or sitting on it on the lift as I like to do.
Pole: this is a thicker carbon pole, not a pencil stye shaft at all, and as a result it is still fairly stiff. Very nice finish which naturally had some scratches on the lower parts after skiing, but the area under the paint is still dark so not very noticeable.
Grip: I found the newer trigger grip to be an improvement over the original system. It still supports the hand well and is easier to get in and out of. That said it did freeze up on me once or twice until I banged on it, but it is still less finicky than the original.
Feel: I didn't find it to be vastly different from my previous aluminum Leki poles, but do like the bit of give and the fact that it is not nearly as cold in the hand or under the tush on the lift.
