Pros: Low profile grips, medium shaft, replaceable baskets
Cons: Appearance is unique
I have always been the kind of guy that looked for the cheapest pole available believing that it didn't matter what I was using. Poles are poles right?
I forgot my poles, and decided to bit the bullet, pay a few more bucks and try out a composite pole. I normally use a 48in pole, but these run a little bit long so I went with the 46in. The handles are low profile, and I enjoy that over the more complicated handles. The shaft is medium thick so not ultra skinny, and the baskets are more groomer/hard snow oriented.
Skiing with these was AMAZING. It took just the lightest flick of the wrist to place these. I enjoyed the flex when placing as well. A far cry from my cheap heavy logs that I have been using. I am sold on a composite pole.
I did replace the baskets with Black Diamond Free ride baskets for better utility in soft snow. I am not enamored with the barber pole motif, but it is not enough to make me really worry about it.
