Garmont Priestess NTN Thermo Boot - Women's

Pros: Good quality shell

Cons: Terrible liner and sunken heel section

Have had the Priestess now for three weeks skiing. My first outing was excruciating to say the least!! basically chronic cramp across the toes. Back at the shop the boots were examined and noted that the heel of the shell has a deep recess with a pad in it, this is significantly lower than the line of the sole, causing the toes to get pushed upwards in the boot! A heel pad added on top brought the feet back into line and eased the toe cramp. next problem was the design of the liner. It has a double stitched over lap over the ankle bone causing me severe pinching of the ankle and arch pain. I baked the boots and persevered with them (I teach tele in Switzerland) Still very painful and making my heels go numb. The liner also had severe creasing over the top where the boot flexes. This was causing bruising on my feet. The sensation otherwise of the boot was awesome. Quite a soft bellow but superb edge control and smooth flex.
In desperation I tried my Alpine Nordica liners in the boots and this has been a revelation.... The boots are now snug and comfortable ish!!! I can survive multiple runs now without tears and numb feet! I am speaking to a Garmont rep soon as three local boot fitters think the liner is very strange.

I can now say I love the NTN system and my boots, it's been a painful trial period but better each day. If you are tempted by the Priestess boots try and get a test day first. I spent a good hour in the boots but did not experience the pain until I began telemarking in them. Good luck!
