Pros: Easy

Cons: Easy to Bend
Great Ski

I had a pair of speedwave 12s, fantastic skis. Unfortunatly they bent at the shovel. Apart from that minor problem, which elan attributed to my skiing, they were alot of fun. Good at all speeds and the edge hold was supprisingly good given the stiffness of the ski. The only places where they were not so fun was unsuprisingly soft steep alpine and trees.

I now have the 14s and they are far better, for an agressive skier, I ski them all over the mountain but do try to avoid the trees when I have them on. They work fine in bumps as long as you are agressive and on top of them.

The skis:
176, 12s (07/08)
176, 14s (09/10)

Me:
5'11", 180 Lbs

Top carver, waveflex really works
mastergregor reviewed March 4, 2009 at 10:38 pm

I bought these (176cm) after demoing them last year, and I loved them at first ski. WaveFlex really works, makes turn initiation quite easy while ski stays torsionally very stiff. This is a pure carver with no speed limit, and it really holds the edge no matter how much you push it or how fast you go. I am 210lb and I could not feel any chatter at all, except a few times around X-Mass on Little Whiteface, when slope was pretty much a slab of ice. If this is your preferred/usual skiing, you can opt for Speedwave 14 with two sheets of titanium, but in my experience 14s are too stiff for good mogul runs.

I also think this is a good mogul ski as well, at least for my weight. I had no problem bending it and I did not get bounced around too much.

Overall, for what this ski is designed to do, the best and most versatile ski in it's class.

Bought this from Dawgcatching to provide more top end than my RX8s.  And it does deliver.  Not as quick as a full blown slalom, but still very responsive and still enjoyable at low/slow speeds. Tip and rip...
