Bought these after a ski test last year. Couldnt give them back I loved them that much. For deep powder they could probably do with a little more width in the waist but god they are great for everything else. Highly reccomend them to any one and the sidecut is genorous enough to allow for a great carving ski
reviewed February 1, 2009 at 10:06 pm An all-mountain carver with hard snow bias. 82 underfoot. Incredible edge grip, crudbuster, versatility abound. PNW ice+crud ripper.
The Magfire is easily my favorite on non-powder days. The amount of edge grip and stability on this thing is incredible. Railing massive GS turns on a 45 degree ice slope with nearly vertical edge angles (not bad for a ski this wide), I pushed these skis as hard as possible without finding a reasonable speed limit... which also makes one hell of a straightline rocket; they simply won't chatter. Despite being super-burly in design, they are quick and flexy enough that I was able to have fun on bumps; the waveflex technology really does work, as suspicious as I was in the beginning, I'm now sold. In addition to railing the hard and variable stuff, these Magfires are wide enough to provide some off-piste fun inbounds with loose snow and crud. The only limitation I could find of these rippers is that they sink like a rock in waist-deep powder... but on those days I'd bring something else out...
If I had a two-ski quiver, I'd take the Obsethed (powder), and this Magfire (all other conditions).
