Elan 888 Alu Ski

A full wood core sandwiched between dual sheets of titanium make the Elan 888 Alu Ski a considerably stiff board that skis super responsively and maintains stability at mach speeds. The 888 Alu s moderate waist provides for quick edge-to-edge transfer, while vertical sidewalls and a stiff flex ensure bomber grip on firm snow. The fat shovel handles softer snow and crud with authority while the ski s light weight provides an agile feel in any terrain.

Greetings All,
I purchased a pair of these after reading reviews but without skiing them. A few years ago a ran a pair of Elan Spitfires and had enjoyed them, so I jumped in. I mounted Fritchi Freerides on them and swap between a pair of older Technica's with Intuition liners and a pair of Garmont Axon boots. All in all, I have been very happy with these skis in varied conditions.
BTW, I'm 6'2", 225 Lbs, and consider myself a good skier after 44 years of practice. I'm leaning towards a pair of Fischer Watea 94 as my next pair...

Great Ride!

This is one powerful ski. Softer and wider than the old ac40 yet still makes power GS turns on steep hardpack. I would not recommend this ski for someone who ventures into the park everyday, since it is a little too frontside oriented for this. Still very capable in tight trees and up to 6'-8' of fresh. Great Price too! I recommend trying out before buying to get used to the way it like to make turns.

Pros: Great grip on hard snow, skis at all speeds well, does not deflect in heavy crud

Cons: Takes some effort to get quick turns going, but they will do it.

Smooth and Steady

I got these skis, new, at a screaming deal so I bought them without a demo.  I have been far from disappointed.  They are incredibly smooth, hold well on ice, and handle every kind of terrain from the hardest snow to crud and powder.  While I keep another set of skis for the very soft snow and trees, these fill all of my other needs and can work in every situation as needed.

Trip 8

I am a gear whore, this is the first ski in 10 years that I bought twice, that says a lot. My son keeps taking these from me and he just rails them flat out beautiful. The 888 is one of my favorite skis to come out of Elan in a long time. Graphics are some of the prettiest ever, simple and classic.
