Lucky to have this as a home area


Pros: Best mix of terrain, great kids programs, if you can ski here you can ski anywhere

Cons: can't think of one

I can't say enough about Disco....the frontside is a great mix of runs for all levels, and the back is..well, they say it's some of the steepest lift served terrain around, and I believe it. It's a good sized resort,and if you can ski it all, then there isn't much on the planet you can't ski. That's not all though...the prices are very low, the ski school and racing team programs are amazing, it's not crowded, people are friendly, and the views are wonderful. 

Really off the beaten path-but wonderful


Pros: Pefect snow. In the middle of nowhere. No crowds. Great terrain.

Cons: In the middle of nowhere, no nightlife, sparse accomodations

When we go to Montana, we stay with locals who work at Bridger Bowl.  On their days off, they ski at Discovery.  This is a two hour drive from Bozeman, into old mining territory.  You are in the middle of the woods-there's no big city or town nearby. The area is set on the front and back of a nice mountain.  The front is friendly, with wide open groomers. Some of these are quite steep, but with perfect snow are a blast.  The back of the hill is tight, with steeps working through glades, and a few legit double blacks.  Orphan Girl is one of the single blacks but there are two headwalls that would be called no fall zones elsewhere. The base lodge is 60's functional, and caters to a 99.9%...
