2007 Volkl AC40 Ski

A reasonable one ski quiver

A review on: 2007 Volkl AC40 Ski
Nick Z Taos

Pros: Good on ice, and bumps, superb carver, not bad in powder and crud either

Cons: The Marker iPT binding that comes with it must be cranked very close to max (12)

I got these (184's) on the cheap from an experienced 6ft plus 190 lb. plus powderhound in his late 40's who was looking for a one ski quiver and this was not his ski. I think it might have been due to location ... Pac NW. I skied some real noodles there myself. It comes with the snow conditions. Move these skis to Taos and they are just what the doctor ordered. I will use them in Val...

2014 Rossignol Experience 88 Ski

Pros: Likes to be doing something, particularly turning.

Cons: High speed stability is it's limits. Not for the more powerful of skiers.

“I've skied on about 50 skis in the last several years, and these are the best all-around, IMO.  Damp, medium flex, good edge grip.  Stiffer than I like in light powder, but excellent in crud and all other conditions.  I can ski faster with these.” --crudmaster

“Just purchased and skied 4 days on 179 prophet 90 's. Day 1 hardpack at Alta Utah. Day 2 ,4 " freshat Brighton. Day 3, 3 " fresh at Powder Mountain, Day 4, 25 " dump at Snowbird. Skis were extremely stable at speed and carved amazingly well for a 90 waist. They handled the powder well at Snowbirdas well as the cut-up as the day progressed. At 60 yrs of age, the 179 length required constant...” --tsbent

“Just picked these up not even a week ago. I wanted to get a more advance ski that i could use in All-mountain fun over my Volkl Unlimited ski's. Great fun in the powder and in the trees, I havent put them againts Crud or Ice so far. (due to having a great Pow day when in the mountains.) They love to ski both forward or switch. Nice shock asorbing on hard landings, which is a plus. I bought mine...” --

2010 Volkl Unlimited AC50 Ski w/ Motion iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Binding

“ I grew up racing everything from slalom to downhill and a bunch of mogul competitions thrown in the middle.  I had different skis for every race.  The AC 50s really can handle almost anything and I have been totally shocked by their versatility.  I'm 6'5" and 205 lbs and almost always push deep into my turns.  The Kendo totally crumbled under my weight at high speeds...” --gooner44

2011 Volkl Kendo Ski

“ I have just completed a week on these in a crazy mix of fresh powder, crud and spring like conditions (been a bizarre Spring in CO ;). I can't believe how well these skis have performed in all conditions on the hill. When things were light and fresh I was whooping it up whenever I was able to find anything untracked. When things warmed up, I was blasting through the crud and when I was...” --billdog

“I demoed these skis for 3 days at Jackson and in short, they rocked.  My first though picking these boards up from TVS was, "wow these are heavy," and I found that mass translated into a beefy, confidence-inspiring feel on the hill, both on-piste and off.  While cruising the double-blues, these guys locked into a beautiful, rock-solid carve in both medium and long-radius turns as long as I...” --gfabbri

2009 Blizzard Magnum 8.7 IQ Ski

“Initial Impression: My initial impression with Blizzard IQ goes back to there days when they were distributed by Dalbello. I was really not impressed do to the simplicity of the design and IMHO a sub par binding. I DID like the Titan Nine of the same generation. I skied the Cronos which was the replacement for the Titan was not near the same power as that ski. Along comes the new Magnum series....” --Philpug

“$300 for skis without binding... Cant comment on durability because I havent had them long enough, and the only con is Ice but then again find me a ski thats good on ICE. Overall excellent ski, 5* on all catagories and truly backs up all the hype and the awards. 210mm of rocker technology actually is noticeable (wasnt buying the whole idea at first buy I decided to buy them, and its all there...” --Skier91

2012 Ski Logik Ullr's Chariot Ski

“ The funny thing about reviews is that it is the reviewers perspective that is printed.  Over the years I have had the opportunity to ski on many different types of skis, some of them I loved right away, others took some getting used to & a few I just didn't like at all.  A couple of the ones I "didn't like at all" were raved about in most reviews I had read.  With that said...” --4ster

“I'm 5'6" and 125 pounds.  I tested these at Squaw the day after a storm that dropped 3-6 inches of snow.  These were one of the three skis I tested that day (phantom sc 97, and L.P 90 were the other 2) and unfortunately I was unable to ski them for a long enough period of time, but i'll give my initial impressions anyways.  I skied them from the demo center in gold coast to siberia, to broken...” --schatten
