Cataloochee Ski Area Reviews

Positive Reviews

we enjoy it....

We started skiing last year and decided to get season passes. We have been about 10 times this winter, and have really enjoyed it. We have only been to one other mountain, so i really can not compare it to anything else. I will say this. DO NOT GO ON SATURDAYS OR SUNDAYS. It is just chaos. On saturday the lines are so long. As far as the trails go they really only have around 5. I  think they say they have 16. We always laugh about that.   As far as price goes I think it is expensive and their parking is really inconvenient. All but about 40 spots are up hill and a long walk. MLK Weekend 2010

Pros: Nice groomers and some back country

Cons: LOTS of tourists on holidays

They have a couple of blacks and a more difficult blue.   They have great beginner terrain including a low level triple chair.  The kids loved it MLK Saturday.  I loved it MLK Monday wihi the masses headed home.  They have some glades and a small bowl that is OB, but I heard they do ski it after a good dump.  It is also close to Asheville.  I recommend also seeing the Biltmore Estate while in the area.
