Pros: Rustic Ski Community Feel

Cons: A bit out of the way

I was able to make the best out of a warm and dry start to the ski season at Beech.  They had most of their terrain open but still gave great discount ticket prices during peak season, just after the Christmas and New Year holiday break.

 

I really love this place.  Everyone is friendly and welcoming.  Usually isn't too crowded either.

 

One thing to note.  GPS coming from the south will sometimes take you a somewhat treacherous route.  Best to take 105 to 184 instead of the 321 fork right.

Beech is a nice little ski area for a place that far south. Some variety and trails are wide enough to allow folks to spread out. If you can pick the days following some natural snow it can be quite good. 30 years later I'll never forget going out to eat my first night at Beech. I've never been so cold in my life! Beech gets plenty of weather but llike most eastern resorts it's some times disappointing how closely a warm spell follows a snow storm.
