Pros: High-quality construction, Extremely comfortable, Excellent breathability, Comes in tall sizes
Cons: Expensive (at full price), No side zips
These are absolutely bombproof soft-shell ski pants that actually come in big and tall sizes. "XL/Tall" fits me just about perfectly; I'm 6'6", 265 lbs, and usually wear 40"x34" or 42"x34" pants. "XXL/Tall" is falling off me, so should fit EXTREMELY big and tall people.
These are NOT insulated, but are very waterproof and fairly windproof. The softshell material is EXTREMELY breathable. This is a plus to me, but if you want very warm pants, look elsewhere. (The Arc'teryx "Sidewinder" model is very similar but with more insulation.) With a couple layers underneath, I've skied in them in 0-degree-F conditions a couple times and been fine.
The pants have integrated ankle gaiters, which are very effective at gripping the outsides of your ski boots and keeping snow or water out. I've used them in snow and rainstorms, on trails/chairlifts with snow guns blasting, and in spring conditions with puddles of slush and water in the lift lines. My legs and feet have stayed dry. The gaiters are NOT removable.
There is a double layer of softshell material on the instep, but the pants are not "armored" there like some ski pants are. (All of the Arc'teryx softshells are like this.) If you tend to cut up your pants with your edges, you might need to look elsewhere. I don't have this problem.
The only real design complaint I can come up with is that I'd prefer side zips to the pockets they have. And, honestly, the pants are so breathable that I've never really felt a need to have venting.
The only real downside is the price. But at least you get what you pay for with these pants.
