Pros: Proximity to Milwaukee & Chicago
Cons: 400 ft of Vert
AV offers about 20 runs with 3 runs listed black at 20-22 degree pitch consistently from top to bottom. Everything else tapers off to a much more gentle pitch from there. It is MUCH MORE consistent pitch than both Cascade & Granite Peak offering a true vertical vs those two in comparison.
They have 3 high speed quads for quick turns to get many runs in during the week.
It can be VERY crowded during the weekends due to its location near Chicago & Milwaukee. MANY novice skiers during the weekends so beware!
Weeknights is another story, wide open terrain with a virtually private hill feel.
Best base village experience in the Midwest IMO! Great vibe with the Germanic ski lodge buildings, 2nd floor pub & panoramic views of the hill, full service restaurant and energetic ambiance with music piped outdoors. They man a fire pit, provide grilled burgers / dogs / sammiches and cold beer on the patio. Patio abuts the base of the ski hill which allows you to ski within feet of the best Après in the Midwest.
KEEP ON SKIING!!
