2014 Salomon Quest Q 115 Ski

Pros: Nimble, stable, strong tail

Cons: Won't float on really deep pow

I had a chance to try the 178 at Alta demo day yesterday (04/06/13), I believe this is exactly the same as the rocker2 115, at least that's what salomon rep said.

Demo day was setup on wildcat area, I was in line with the quest 115 waiting for the collins lift to open. I had a chance to go down ballroom on about 8" with some hardpack underneath, ballroom was closed on Friday so it was great for the demo day. The quest 115 floats really well and didn't get thrown around when I hit some crud bellow the new snow! My first run after ballroom was pretty much trying to get as much off/side piste as possible, the quest 115 was so nimble and would turn without much effort, and was easy to handle down schuss gully!

Second run was basically trees down collins lift, some untracked and tracked snow, it was again easy to turn between the trees and the tail felt strong and kept the ski stable when I needed for a hard stop! Again a winner in this conditions!

Third and last run was simply going down fast on grommers all the way to collins mid station and tried some ungroomed towards wildcat. the quest 115 was stable on grommers and the short turn radius wasn't really a problem trying to make long, fast turns down the grommers! I believed I might have hit a couple low airs down wildcat and again the tail was great on landing even with my backseat landing!

Quest 115 was a winner for me among all that I tested during the demo day! It's a live ski, gives you good feedback and the short turn radius helps it to be nimble and it's not a problem going fast down grommers making long turns

Me: 5'5" / 150
Ski tested: quest 115, 178cm, mounted on suggested line with salomon demo bindings
