Not just for the backcountry

Pros: Surprisingly versatile shape, light and lively

Cons: Not quite as damp and powerful as the regular Cham 97

The Dynastar Cham HM 97 looses the metal and adds tip and tail holes, all aimed at making the Cham High Mountain a backcountry ski, so our testers initially passed on the ski two years ago, but when we got on it last year, everybody agreed that the Cham HM was more than just a touring machine, many even preferring it to the metal version in bounds.   For both sides of the story, we have SierraJim and Dostie talk about both the High Mountain 97 and 107 in terms of shape and performance, both in-bounds and out:     The bottom line is this: The ski has a more moderate flex than the regular Cham, which will make it appealing to a broad group of skiers, without...
