Pros: Simplicity, timeless design
Cons: Doesn't go out of style?
This is my second Moe jacket. My first one was one from the now gone DNA label. Until this year Descente marketed some of their line under the DNA label to, I believe broaden the demographic appeal. This year, Descente abandoned the DNA moniker brought everything under the Descente label. The model I am going to discuss here is the Moe. My first Moe was purchased in 08 when I was still back east. I like the simplicity of the jacket and the relaxed fit all in a shell that is 3-layer, 20/20K and was not a pure technical look. I wore this jacket for about 4 years and it never looked old and never lost it's performance. The new Descente Moe is a great evolution with some up to date features. The basics that I expected from the Moe are still there, fully seam sealed, 3 layer and 20/20K weather protection but now there are better pocket placement an better designed arm pocket for passes (verses the drop down waist holder) and a new ingenious hood design called "para-hood" that zips open and closed with ease. The attached hood, with this new design is not cumbersome like a roll up hood and stays protected and dry until you need it. The simplistic design works very well.
If you are looking for a great jacket with al the technical features but that is a relaxed fit and you don't want to look like you are headed to "base Camp 3" of an Everest expedition, Make sure you get to your Descente retailer and try the Moe on. I went with the Dark Red w/Black trim and it looks great.
