2014 Atomic Elysian Ski

Pros: floats like a pro

Cons: stiff and hard to control

Maybe it's just me but I demo'd this ski for about 4 hours and it wasn't my favorite…but we came to an understanding after a few runs. Turns took longer than I wanted to engage, which surprised me in the soft stuff but made sense in the hard-pack and crud.

I can see this being an awesome ski for wide open big mountain turns but took a lot of effort on shorter softer runs. Get ready to be on your A-game with these boards on. Gotta let them know who's boss. Then you'll have a good ride.

Pros: Fun and playful most anywhere you want to go

Cons: Not perfect for groomers

This was the third year in a row that I demo'd the Elysian during the trade shows and it was the third year in a row that it made me grin from ear to ear.

With its adaptive rocker, this ski made it easy to initiate turns on the groomers, and get up on the moguls.  At 95mm under foot, it wasn’t the ideal groomer ski but it didn’t make you wish you weren’t on groomers either, all the while giving the  vote of confidence to plow through crud and play in the light powder.

This remains a great choice for a light weight woman who wants a one ski quiver with the intent of playing off piste most of the time.
