2013 Tecnica Cochise Pro Light

Pros: Beefy, stiff, powerful, good walk mode, easy mode switch

Cons: Wimpy liner, inferior power strap, too stiff

The first time I took the Cochise Pro Light for a spin I was impressed with how stiff the cuff was, and contrarily how well the cuff moved in walk mode. Frankly the 130 flex version of the boot was and remains too stiff for this kid, but if you tip the scales closer to 200 pounds, and/or are very aggressive you will love the stiffness of the Cochise Pro 130 or Pro Light.

Walk mode is easy to engage, made easier if you go for the Pro 130, 120, 110, or W100 thanks to a buckled power strap that makes loosening the power strap much faster and easier. It also allows you to cinch the power strap to the same level of compression that you normally expect from a metal buckle.

Two complaints with the Pro Light. First, the liner is thin. If you want a thermomoldable liner you would be better off with an Intuition liner which is thicker and constructed better. On the other hand, you may prefer the thinner liner since the boot is not excessively wide (98mm width) and also has a fairly high instep.

The main thing you will want to do with the Pro Light is upgrade the power strap to the buckled version available with the Pro 130. That version is superior in my opinion, not only for the buckled strap, but also for the alpine caliber liner.
