2013 Salomon X Max 130

Pros: Super fit and great progressive flex.

Cons: A little softer than the "130" designation would suggest. The sole is less durable than my other boots have been.

Received these as a gift and intended to use them as a recreational boot. had them fit and dialed in at Squire John's in Collingwood Ontario. I have a very pronounced 6th toe and Taylor bunions that the heat molded shell accommodated without any difficulty, the fit is outstanding, and the performance is comparable to my Tecnica Race-Pro 130. I skied them completely pain free the first time out of the shop which is unheard of in my experience, I normally have to take new boots back a dozen times to work out the hot spots. They were reputed to be cold but I have not found them to be even in -25C conditions at Lake Louise. I will add the race kit to beef up the flex a bit and give them a try in  the race course in January 2015. I have found no reason to not like these boots, however fitting them yourself would be very difficult so forget about grabbing a pair with a the cheap EBay score.

Pros: Snug all foot fit, hugely improved snow feel under your foot, strong flex when you need it most, all day comfort, great design and look.

Retiring my Nordica Beasts 120's this season I tried the Fischer Vacs for fit but the entry into them was not the easiest so tried the new Salomon X Max 130's.

All I can say is WOW! These are without question the best boot I have ever skied in during my 30 + years on a hill!

I have a widish foot but with the heated fitting system and dual plastic softer top/harder base shell these boots are AMAZING.

You get a Race boot fit WITH comfort  - and the impact on your technique is instant.

Roll the ankle, flex, and I've turned fast and into the next without even thinking… and I literally can now feel the snow underfoot -  they go where you want when you want instantly.

Equally at home flying down a GS course or shredding off piste they are 'there for me'. And I can teach in them all day without having to unbuckle like the super snug race fit or higher flex boots of old….

130 Flex - no worries :)

If you are considering a vacuum fit then I would really really recommend to try the Salomon X MAX range.
