2013 Nordica Fire Arrow EDT 84

Pros: Strong, Stable, Quick, Fast!

Cons: None

Having recently "hunted" for a new frontside ski, I made the decision to buy the Fire Arrow 84 EDT! Without a doubt the best ski ever skied by me! A recent trip to Snowshoe Resort (2-21 to2-25) I was blown away on how fast and stable this ski is! On our last day we again hit the Western Territory (1.5 mile, 1500') and my first run speed reached 57.6 mph. Then I just let them go on the next, according to my ski tracks app I was skiing the steeper lower section of The Cupp run and without knowing it, I was skiing way faster than I drive my car! I hit a max speed of 80.6 mph and it was the smoothest run I think I have ever had. Zero chatter, incredibly stable! Mind you I will be 57 in May and I had no intention of trying to reach that speed. I actually made a few turns in that run and was never in a tuck. Some reviews mention that it isn't very forgiving.........well I say ski it like it is supposed to be skied and it will give you everything you ask of it! I absolutely LOVE these skis!

Pros: stable.will go faster than you can or should.predictable and responsive.

Cons: none

i have skied this ski on three different occasions. day one was rock hard manmade at alpine meadows. the more i pushed it the better it responded.held like a true GS skivery stable.. short turns were precise. felt like a shorter ski.day two, northstar, spring corn. i took it in the bumps. turned easily. tip is stiffer than my firearrow 80 which was fine once i got a feel for it. took it off piste in some 5 inch glop and it cut through effortlessly. day 3, northstar, grippy packed. again this ski could do it all  the edge hold is incredible with nothing but a factory tune.this ski is what an expert skier is looking for!

Pros: Does it all and does it better than the rest.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about an 84mm wait for an Eastern ski.  Until I skied the FA84.  It'll be my go-to ski for next season without question.  This thing may just end up with all of the magazine test medals this year.  It's just that good.  I can't find fault with anything about this ski.  Bumps, powder, steeps, crud, ice, groomers - it doesn't matter.  This may just be the true one-ski quiver come to life!

Pros: Could be best ski in class

Cons: Price..worth selling first born for. Loose the neon graphics

I will preempt this review by saying I have never been a fan of Nordica's XBS binding system, I always felt a disconnect between the boot and the ski. Fast forward to 2013..Holy ****. I will say that the new FireArrow EDT 84 is a sure fire finalist for "Fontside Ski OTY" for 2013. It has been a while since I have demoed a ski and was so shocked how superior it skied that I had to go back and demo it not only a second time but a third time. I thought, no a ski cannot be this different and head and shoulders above the rest of the class, it has to be the tune or pixie dust or unicorn tears that are making the ski ski so well, so I tried two different sizes at Winter Park (176 and 168) and then the a different pair of 176's at Mt. Rose for the Epic demo. Damn, it they ALL didn't ski fantastic. I think I will need to have Nordica send me a pair to test for the whole season just so I can be 134% positive that the skis is that good.

We can argue all day which ski in this class is the class of the class, the FA 84 EDT, Blizz M-Power and the Kastle MX83, none of which I would throw out of my quiver but the FA84 just had something extra.
