Pros: 98mm last transmits power to ski very efficiently, Live Fit panels on lateral side of boot aids comfort, firm boot flex not overpowering
I purchased Atomic Tracker 130 ski boots this season from Spokane Alpine Haus, and I have to say that these are the BEST ski boots I have ever owned.
The narrow 98mm last transmits power to the ski extremely well and offers an extremely high level of performance. The Live Fit panels on the lateral side of each boot help accommodate a wide variety of foot shapes. In my case, I have a mild/moderate tailor's bunion on my right foot and the Live Fit panel accommodates this deformity rather well. In the past I had my boots punched and ground in order to fit my foot comfortably and not worsen my condition, however, the Atomic Tracker 130 has required NO such work from my boot fitter. I can wear these boots all day without any problems whatsoever. The ASY Elite T3 liner is a large part of the performance and comfort of these boots. I haven't had them thermally molded to my feet, but they have served me extremely well through nearly 20 days of skiing so far this year. I should mention that I had custom footbeds molded for these boots and have never skied them with the stock footbeds.
Although Atomic categorizes these boots as having a 130 flex, they strike me as being somewhat more flexible than other boots with 130 flex ratings in Atomic's lineup. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that these boots have a walk/hike mode, but the flex is certainly adequate for high performance skiing while not being unapproachable.
I haven't used the walk mode for skinning with touring skis, however, I have done a fair amount of hiking in them and they are very comfortable. The additional range of motion offered by the walk mode is very welcome and eases hiking in the sidecountry/backcountry not to mention any time that you are in your ski boots in the lodge or walking around the village.
I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a high performance boot that wants/needs the convenience of a walk mode look into purchasing the Atomic Tracker 130 ski boot. Purchasing these boots has proven to be a fantastic decision.
