Pros: Good Materials
Cons: Odd front pockets, no vents
I bought these on the Clymb for $130, so they were a great deal for some pretty tech pants that come in cool colors. It's the end of my season, so I haven't got to really try them out but I figured I'd give my first impressions. My old pants have always been mesh lined (uninsulated) mid-price range burtons. With a thin base layer my legs have never been cold, and I often unzipped the leg vents when I was hiking or skinning in the the backcountry. These pants have a light fleece lining and no vents. I assume the lack of vents is to prevent leaks, but I probably wouldn't have bought these if I knew about it. Anyway, the fleece is super comfy so I'm gonna try to rock these without a base layer and hope my legs don't get cold. Also, the front pocket openings are horizontal. Granted, they zip closed and your jacket will probably be covering them, but if they do somehow sneak open a little I could see them filling with snow. My old burton's also always had a little key clip in the front pocket which doesn't seem like much but gave me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing I wouldn't looks my car keys. I snowboard, so I don't really need the reinforced bottom cuffs. I think these pants will work at keeping the cold out and looking good, but they have some room for improvement IMO.
