I was encouraged to take a look at FlyLow gear by a friend who thought I'd like the style and durability.  FlyLow ski clothing was originally designed with back country and telemark skiing in mind, so durability and functionality has always been its goal, which has been obvious to those who put their products to the test, with durable fabric, substantial zippers, well placed venting.

After trying the Masala Shell, I found myself looking for pants to compliment it, which would also be a good fit for ski instructing.  The High waist of the Bella Donna pant makes it comfy with full coverage when bending down to help a student, while the reinforced knees and cuffs assure that these pants will stand the test of time.

The inner and outer thigh vents are convenient to access with substantial zipper pulls that make them easy to use with gloves, while the cuff's and gaiters are generous to make access to the buckles and walk feature on your boots whether you're tightening your boot for performance or accessing your walk feature for a hike.

At first glance, I was disappointed with the button waist closure because (generally)I like clips or hooks at the waist, but the button appears to be attached in the same durable manner as the other features on these pants, which made it easy become accustomed to.

All in all, I think I'll be enjoying the Bella Donna pant for a long time.

*  I was approached in the locker room by a female ski patroller who noticed the durable knees and cuffs on these pants, and is planning on ordering a pair for her work pants.

2012 FlyLow Gear Bella Donna W Pant

With a little bit of spandex and softshell for stretch, the Bella Donna Pant is made to move. Cross-flow venting and knee and cuff reinforcements give these women’s pants breathability and strength. The Bella Donna’s were the first ladies pant for Flylow, but the are actually the fifth generation of FlyLow innovation in technical pant production. We have integrated everything we have learned from the ski patrol who stand by our gear to the professional skiers that push our clothing to the limits and keep us up to date on style. These pants have the ultimate utility: soft hell stretch and breathability for excellent comfort on the way up the mountain, but are waterproof and tough for the way down. After research and testing we have developed the latest Intuitive Fabric for this pant that incorporates a mostly nylon outer shell, a hydrophilic membrane and a nylon tricot to optimize weight, waterproofness and durability. These pants marry the benefits both soft shells and hard shells combined with the standard Flylow features: 1000 Denier Cordura knees and cuffs, inner and outer thigh vents, gators, Velcro-elastic waist adjustors and a perfect fit. - Three-layer Intuitive Fabric™ - Soft-hardshell fabric: 90% Nylon - 10% Spandex (waterproof / breathable) - 1100 Denier Cordura™ reinforcements on the knees and cuffs - Fully seam-taped - Powder cuffs - Cross-flow venting (18” outer thigh vents, 9” inner thigh vents) - One panel articulated knee - Adjustable waist - Four pockets - Ykk waterproof zippers - Level 5 Dupont DWR™ (Durable, Water, Repellent)
