2012 Blizzard Magnum 8.7 IQ Max Ski

Pros: great edge, quick, good for both long and short turns

Cons: a little too stiff for fun in mogels and trees

i'm 5'9 and 150 lbs. i'm an eastern skier. i've been skiing volkl bridge as daily driver but switch to rossi S3 for big powder days. i ski the woods as much as possible and side of trails if woods are closed. after a poor winter in the east last year i decided to get a groomer ski with good edge control. the price was so good i bought the blizzard 8.7 without demo but based my purchase on the rumor that they skied like the volkl rtm84. i am very happy with them. great edge and stability on hardpack as expected but i was very happy with their quickness on side of trails. i was able to rip off short and quick turns weaving in and out and dodging branches on the side of trails. they were actually pretty good on mogels but they wouldn't be my first choice. overall. a much better ski than expected because it is not just a hardpack ski. couldn't beat the price of 550 w/binding and the performance.

Pros: Initiation, strong finish

Cons: Short turns, forgiveness

Ski: Blizzard Magnum 8.7 Power Full Suspension
Dimensions: 128/87/113
Tested Length: 181
Turn Radius: 19 meters
Price w/binding: $1,399.95

The Good: Initiation, strong finish
The Bad: Short turns, forgiveness

Verdict: The Magnum provided consistent turn initiation in all terrain, and provided a great boost at the finish of each carve for testers who really drove it, when you could easily feel the proprietary full suspension construction kick in. Overall, it did not feel as versatile or forgiving as other skis in this class.
