2011 K2 Hardside Skis

Pros: Smooth, good in powder, trees, nice bite on hardpack

Cons: Less fun on low angle crowded groomers

Got about 10 or so days on these and today was the first time I wasn't quite happy.  If the terrain is low angle and non-bumped with no fresh snow and you have to deal with a ton of obstacles (people) then these won't offer the sharp, clean carve you might want.

But, this is more of a sidecountry ski that is capable on piste.  In the majority of conditions I'm encountering in the east these have been really fun.  Very good on steeps and uneven terrain.  Nice but not punishing stiffness.

I've skinned 3 times with the K2 Hardside specific skins and the attachment system with the tip/tail holes was a cinch.

Pros: Easy to turn and great in soft snow, very light

Cons: Not as smooth on hard snow

I really like these skiis in soft snow and crud.  Cut through and carve well in powder and crud.  Really easy to turn so skiing trees and steeps are much easier.   With a pair of Griffon bindings these are really light weight compared to my 08 Explorers.--

Update: Somehow had a sidewall start coming apart.  I sent them in and K2 was very prompt and good on warranty so now I have the 2012 Hardside which has different graphics.
