2009 Elan Quad One (1111)

Posted

Pros: Huge ski handles the pow and crud like a dream; even makes 20m turns on the groomers getting to the deep stuff; gets lots of comments, even in CO!

Cons: none

These skis are my fattest powder skis to date. They are 184cm long. I can't imagine needing more ski. I have 2 pair of Atomic Powder Plus (165cm) and a pair of Volant Chubbs (180cm). The former I use in when I hit the trees. The Volants are semi-retired.

I love the flotation the Elan's have. They turn very easily. They have a tendency to over turn in the pow due to their huge tips coming around so easily. You can really just point them and go.

These skis were bought used, with bindings. I was looking for an Atomic Powder Plus 180cm when the guy at the second hand shop pointed these out. The grahics, fish tail and massive size sold me right away. I knew that these skis would retire to my living room collection (10th Mt. Division skis and poles, Northland skis (circa 1930), through to Head and Volant) so I grabbed them.
