2009 Dynastar Legend 8000 Ski

Pros: Make skiing feel as easy as it was when i was 23 yrs old

Cons: Not found any yet

These skis have put the fun back into skiing. After using a straight ski up-weight technique that meant i tended to smear or skid my turns, these skis quickly (two hours practice) allowed me to become proficient at carving both long and short radius turns. They feel light very maneuverable and provide excellent edge grip. Riding the lift up and looking at the sharp RR tracks these leave is worth the money i paid for these.
For anyone looking to buy their first ski or looking for a ski that willhelp them improve the 8K is well worth the investment.

Pros: Light, snappy feel, great all-mountain width, sidecut

Cons: Washes out at speed, not beefy enough for crud

So, apologies for not reviewing the exact model listed, but this one wasn't one of the choices!

Not sure what changes have been made to this ski, but I know it was pretty much unchanged except for graphics from 2005-2008 (?)

My info: 43, 185-ish, aggressive level 8, +/-.  Ski bumps and off-piste as much as conditions permit.  If it's groomers only, then I need either speed, tough line, or lots of turns to keep boredom at bay -- always pushing to ski hard *and* well.  I ski these at 178, and I think it's perfect for me.  I grew up on 198s like a lot of us, and I know the trend is for shorter skis, but I can't imagine liking these as much at 172 in anything but bumps.

This is a very nice, light, nimble ski.  Great in bumps, powder, lighter crud.  Heavier stuff, like we have here in the Pacific NW, can make these a bit of work, as they get thrown around a bit.  They also do not feel substantial at speed on hardpack, though I have not done the edges recently.  Just seems like there's not enough ski beyond a certain point -- 40mph probably.  Not terrible, just not a GS ski, either!  At lower speeds, they are very enjoyably snappy side to side without taking over the turns for you! Overall a ski that is easy to enjoy the whole day on, across the whole mountain.  I usually bring up 2 or 3 pairs, but it's easy to convince myself to stay on these rather than go to the car for the Outlaws or my 4800s *just* because they'd be better for a specific run or two.  If I'm going to spend a half day on the backside, I would trade these for the Outlaws. Even with the K2s' extra weight, the width and stability means a better experience in deep / crud, and they're the widest skis I have, so there it is...  And, if I will be in bumps all day long or lots of time on groomers, the 4800s with slightly narrower waist are more rewarding.  Otherwise, this is my main ski, and happily so.
