1981 Atomic ARC Team Bionic SL

Posted

Pros: fabulous edge grip

Cons: useless in deep powder; 25 years out of production

This was a full racing slalom ski that held an edge on anything. It was much heavier and stiffer than recreational skis of the time, but beautifully balanced.  It needed to be skied fast and aggressively to make it carve, but in the proper hands and with proper technique, it was quick and nimble in the gates or on the bumps.

You did not, however, want to take this ski in powder much deeper than about 6-8 inches.
