I have one and have had it for a few years.  One of the best tools in my bench...  Unlike many other gimmicks out there, the discman does not heat the edge while polishing it.  You never end up work hardening the steel...

keep in mind you are trying to remove wax from the structure.  if you go too fast or use too much pressure you can remelt the wax which defeats the purpose....
Or we can cut to the chase and get rid of the stones and go with discman and make everyone lives easier...  but i do not expect the average person to plunk down $650 on an edge tool....    I guess we will just have...
Start with waxing without scraping?  Reminds me of the liquid wax days....  A gummi stone on the edge?  Not the best of ideas...  You can use them on the base to get rid of rust but that is about as far as you want...
